Folk remedies and hair loss

Herbal remedies and various folk medicine treatment methods existed before the golden age of modern medicine. Folk medicine has made a contribution to the treatment of hair loss and a countless number of folk recipes and methods aimed at the restoration of scalp hair growth are now available.

Nevertheless, the representatives of true medicine are extremely skeptical about folk methods and tend to view the use on the same footing as self-treatment, which they never approve of. They consider it to be a waste of time which can consequently leads to the aggravation of the condition and subsequent difficulty, or even impossibility, of further medical treatment. The methods and recipes of the folk medicine may sometimes contradict the main concepts of pharmaceutical medicine. Therefore, medical practitioners recommend the avoidance of folk medicine techniques for the treatment of alopecia. However, these folk methods can be used as additional hair care.

Below are recipes for folk remedies for hair care which can be prepared at home. They include various hair masks and infusions with which to rinse hair. The herbal remedies listed below are better used for the prevention of hair loss rather than for the treatment of an existing problem. They should not be considered an alternative to the complex and thorough medical treatment of alopecia and underlying conditions.

It is important to remember that if your hair is weak and falling out, you should handle your hair with great care – give up hair setting and blow drying and comb it carefully.

IMPORTANT! In the case of intensive hair loss, many folk remedies may exacerbate the problem due to the mechanical impact exerted on the scalp when applying and rubbing the remedy in. Therefore, any remedy should be used carefully and it would be more desirable if the remedy is approved by a trichologist. Remember that there is no guarantee that using a folk remedy for hair loss will yield positive results. If your hair loss is induced by some serious health issue, no hair mask nor infusion will be able to remedy the condition.
